Home of the Great Western Railway Locomotive 5199. This website is to provide information on the former GWR Large Prairie 5199, restored from scrap condition by the 5199 Project. Upon the completion of 5199, a number of the groups members wanted a new challenge. After running through several ideas, these members came up with a plan to build a brand new. 5199 has jus undergone her 10 year overhaul at Llangollen, and should be back in action on the Santa specials. This is the website for ex GWR Locomotive 5542. 5542 is a GWR 4575 Class 2-6-2T small prairie tank engine which was built in 1928 and withdrawn by British Railways in December 1961, she spent the next fourteen years in a scrapyard before being acquired for preservation.
